Double Two Racing – Anglesey Race Report

Anglesey race report
The most stunning venue on the calendar opened its gates to the No Limits Racing family for a sun-soaked 3 days of two-wheeled action filled with thrills, spills and full-throttled racing.
Test day went smoothly with just a few suspension tweaks and a small gearing change and by the 3rd session, I’d already beaten my Pb from last year.
Qualifying
A frantic 10-minute qualifying and I was first out on track so got a good amount of clear laps in after getting a great tow off Chris Hellewell and smashed my Pb again with a 1:11.19 followed by a 1:11.17 putting me 7th overall on the grid.
I got a great start from the outside of the grid and got away with the lead group, Jamie Cornfield squeezed past up the inside at the left-hander at the top of the back straight soon followed by PSS rider Broderick Whitmore-Wilson, Jamie soon pulled a gap and I was losing time to Brod so I knew I had to pull my socks up and started to close back up on Brod who I could see was having handling issues, in the meantime Scott Stevens had lost the front into turn 2 promoting those behind him up a place, I crossed the line only just over a second behind Brod which certainly gave me confidence for race 2 on Sunday, and bagged myself my second podium of the season finishing 3rd in class.
Race 2
Again I got a cracking start but as we all got on the gas heading up to church corner, the red flags came out and a number of bikes appeared across the grass from turn 1. There had been an almighty pile-up in turn 1 where approximately 10 riders had gone down, most were up and walking but a few were much worse off and we wish those riders a very speedy recovery. After a very understandably long halt to proceedings while Ambulances were off-site, the race resumed and we got away safely, had a pretty average start as starting on the inside of the grid was definitely a disadvantage, early on in the race Jamie had got it all wrong on the brakes at the end of the back straight narrowly missing me and clipping Brod, Jamie was off onto the grass and luckily Brod stayed on, my race pace was a bit off with lack of rear-end grip but still bought it home in 4th in class.
Race 3
Started 9th on the grid again on the inside but got away well but was 5th in class and surrounded by PSS riders Louis O’Reagan and Robert Childs in front and Brod behind. I got past Robert at the bottom of the corkscrew and was right behind Louis just as Brod got by me and for the rest of the race, we were nose to tail.
Race 4
Best race of the weekend fun wise for me. The bike felt great, got a good start from 9th and soon found myself tucked up behind Louis O’Reagan again. I was determined not to wait to get past this time and got a great drive out of church to pass him on the fast right kink of the back straight. I started to pull in Brod and 4th place Barry Dimelow of Fatboy Racing. Got up to the back of them but ran out of laps. I had the biggest buzz on the bike with every lap in the 1:11’s and ended on another PB of 1:11.07. So close to a 1:10 when last year my PB was a 1:12.3. Fantastic weekend great racing and great company with the No Limits family, massive thanks to the race organisers at No Limits Racing who dealt with a very difficult weekend of crashes to finish the schedule pretty much bang on time. Great job guys!
